Fireside chat with Young Vietnamese practitioners in ADRs: Expectations & Prospects is an event within the framework of Vietnam ADR Week 2023 co-organized by Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC), Vietnam Mediation Centre (VMC), Vietnam Institute for Arbitration Research and Training (VIART) and Vietnam Young Arbitration Group (VYAG).

 

 

 

Ms. Nhu Hoang Tran Thang | Counsel, Peter & Kim

 

Nhu-Hoang Tran Thang is a Counsel at Peter & Kim. She is a French trained and qualified lawyer and a Swiss national with Vietnamese roots, with experience across both magic circle firms and arbitration boutiques in Paris, Geneva and London. Nhu-Hoang has acted as arbitrator, counsel, or assistant to the arbitral tribunal in over thirty arbitrations related to a variety of industries. She has developed particular expertise in energy related disputes involving both short- and long-term supply agreements. Nhu-Hoang is also well versed in the development of Investor-State disputes in Southeast Asia. In 2023, she was selected as one of the under 45 Arbitration Thought Leaders, Global Elite by Who is Who.

 

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Trang | Special Arbitration Counsel, Dzungsrt & Associates

 

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Trang is a special arbitration counsel in Dzungsrt & Associates LLC – Hanoi Office for over 12 years. Her practice focuses on Commercial and Investment Arbitration, Commercial and Enforcement Litigation, and International Business Law. For four consecutive years, Ms. Trang has been recognized as one of the “Next Generation Partners” in Dispute Resolution in Vietnam in 2019 and 2020 and “Leading Individual” in 2021 and 2022 by Legal 500 Asia Pacific. She was also listed in The Arbitration Powerlist: Southeast Asia 2022.

She obtained her LL.M Degree in Business, Corporate and Maritime Law with a focus on International Arbitration and Business Law at Erasmus School of Law – Erasmus University Rotterdam. In 2021, she has successfully defended her Ph.D. thesis on the Judicial support of Vietnamese courts in arbitration at the Graduate Academy of Social Sciences in Vietnam.

As a key member of the Arbitration & ADR Group in Dzungsrt & Associates LLC, Ms. Trang has extensive experience in many arbitrations with total value worth millions of USD conducted at ICC, SIAC, HKIAC and VIAC.

Trang is the co-author of a number of publications on Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) andcommercial arbitration. She also a member of the local steering committee for the first YICCA workshop in Hanoi in 2019 and one of the key moderators of the Young Vietnam ADR Group under the auspices of VIAC.

 

Mr. Trinh Ba Duong | Legal Executive, WongPartnership

 

Donny Trinh Ba Duong is a foreign lawyer in the International Arbitration Practice of WongPartnership LLP, Singapore. His main areas of practice are in international arbitration, involving commercial and corporate disputes across various sectors. He has acted for clients in ad hoc and institutional arbitration proceedings under SIAC, ICC, UNCITRAL and ICSID Rules. He has also acted as tribunal secretary in various arbitration proceedings under SIAC and LCIA Rules. In addition to his international arbitration practice, Donny also has experience in arbitration-related court proceedings. He has assisted Singapore counsel at WongPartnership with setting aside proceedings and enforcement of arbitral award proceedings. Prior to joining WongPartnership, Donny had worked as an in-house legal counsel for a leading Hong Kong-incorporated telecommunications company and at a top-tier South Korean law firm in Hanoi Office, and completed his internship at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, Netherlands. Donny graduated with a Bachelors of Laws (LL.B) from the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam in 2015. In 2016, he obtained his first LL.M in international commercial law from the University of Nottingham, UK and in 2019, he obtained his second LL.M in International Dispute Settlement (MIDS) from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies and the University of Geneva.

 

Mr. Doan Nhat Minh | Senior Associate of VILAF

 

Minh is a Senior Associate of VILAF, specializing in Dispute Resolutions, Corporate/M&A, Employment, and Investigations and Crisis Management. He has advised and represented various clients in the settlement of disputes in the field of construction, investment, employment, commerce and insurance. His experience includes dispute resolutions at the Vietnamese courts, VIAC, SIAC and ICC. Before joining VILAF, Minh had worked as a collaborator for the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC).

Minh has also engaged in various acquisition transactions by foreign investors into local enterprises in different economic sectors, such as automobiles, real estate business, and oil and gas. In addition, he has assisted foreign investors and local companies with corporate/M&A, employment, and anti-trust matters.
